ETALING JAYA: The ‘sandiwara’ Arul Kanda Kandasamy is engaging in has annoyed Syed Ali Alhabshee, who has said that the president and chief executive director of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) is showing great disrespect to the rakyat.
In a blog posting, the Cheras Umno chief marvelled at the way Arul Kanda first said he could not attend the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) hearings on Monday and Tuesday as he was away on official business yet “magically” made himself available for a private dinner with certain prominent figures Wednesday night.
He said, “This is a sandiwara, which leaves a bad taste in the mouth.”
Syed Ali said that the controversies swirling around 1MDB such as the alleged missing billions and a suspicious paper trail to businessmen Jho Lo, deserve concrete answers instead of secret meetings and back door deals.
“People are hopping mad. Their anger holds water. We are yet to hear any concrete explanation about what happened to billions of dollars.
“So instead of secret meetings, back door deals and trying to use the 1MDB financial mess for political gain, let’s put the accounts straight.”
Demanding Arul “please respect the rakyat”, a call he also extended to former CEO Shahrol Halmi and 1MDB’s board of directors, Syed Ali added, “Please understand the money that has gone up in thin air belongs to the people.”
He also said it was high time that Arul spit out the truth to PAC members and be done with it.
“So stop your political manoeuvring and just go tell PAC members the truth, for once.”
